Tikapur Park located on the banks of Karnali River, four kilometers away from the Tikapur market in Kailali, is not only naturally but also important from a historical point of view.

Located on the banks of the river, this park has immense potential for tourism. Spread over an area of 85 bighas, the historical structures in this park have been made more attractive by the natural decoration and recreational environment.

There is ‘Ratna Garden’, ‘Aishwarya Udyan’ and ‘Virendra Vishram Watika’ in the bungalow premises built by King Mahendra for the purpose of resting while coming here. Tikapur area, which was undeveloped and densely forested for hunting at that time is an excellent picnic spot now situatig on the banks of Karnali.

Suffering from heart disease, the then king Mahendra Bir Vikram Shah died in B.S. In the year 2024. it was learned from the park management committee that Mahendra slept in this park for about one and a half months in the sanatorium and later returned to Kathmandu as he became uncomfortable to run the state.

Locals say that, after seeing the ability to reduce stress in the environment, calm the mind and minimize the effects of disease, King Mahendra ordered the construction of a park in the Tikapur area to develop the people’s civilization and the city.

There is also a ‘Panchayat pillar’ in this park which has historical importance. Tikapur Park, which was made more beautiful last year through the reconstruction and development plan, is a must-visit place for tourists.

Therefore, Principal Surendra Ojha said that our Global Academy chose Tikapur Park for this year’s secondary level educational visit and picnic program. We 85 students from class 8 to 10, 15 teachers

and 20 helping hands participated in the picnic enjoyed observing the beautifully decorated Aishwarya Udyan, Ratna Udyan, Mahendra Arogya Griha and Birendra Vishram Bathika, taking pictures and enjoying rafting in the Karnali river. Eating and dancing at the  in the park’s nature our picnic had been completed.

Due to the atmosphere of the park and the attractions in the park, we felt like we should not leave the park when we were heading home. It seems that there is a need to arrange the forest banqueting place like the flower garden and the Aishwary garden, which are decorated naturally, including the houses built in the traditional style. It seems that if the toilets and its cleanliness can be properly managed, it would add much good influence .

Concerned authorities must be aware of the protection, promotion and development of the park since the park has great potential to increase tourism along with economic benefits.
