Social media, like Instagram and Facebook, is all over our lives nowadays. It’s where we share stuff, chat with friends, and see what others are up to. But did you know it can also mess with how we feel?
When we’re on social media, we often see posts from people showing off their best moments. They might look super happy and successful, making us feel like we’re not good enough. That’s because we compare ourselves to them and start feeling down about ourselves. This can make us feel anxious or sad.
Spending too much time on social media can also be like a never-ending game. We keep checking for likes and comments, hoping to feel good about ourselves. But when we don’t get enough likes or attention, it can make us feel bad about ourselves. Plus, it can mess up our sleep and make it hard to focus on other things.
Another big problem is cyberbullying. Some people use social media to be mean to others, saying hurtful things or spreading rumours. This can make the person being bullied feel really upset and alone.
But it’s not all bad! Some parts of social media can actually make us feel good. Like when we use it to chat with friends or share happy moments. We can also find groups online that understand what we’re going through and give us support. To stay feeling good while using social media, it’s important to take breaks and not spend all our time online. We should also remember that what we see isn’t always real and try not to compare ourselves to others too much. And if we see someone being mean online, we can speak up and help make social media a nice place for everyone.
